Passenger left hanging from 'L' tracks after exiting out of moving CTA Green Line train

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A CTA passenger is in the hospital but lucky to be alive after a bizarre accident on the Green Line Tuesday night.

Chicago police said a 35-year-old woman missed her stop at Kedzie and attempted to get out of a moving Green Line train when she fell onto the elevated tracks.

It was about 8:40 p.m., and police said the woman was left hanging from the tracks above Lake Street.

An officer at the scene could be heard on police scanner traffic explaining to an astounded colleague that after hanging from the tracks she then tumbled into the bed of a pickup truck.

After falling 15 to 20 feet into the truck bed, police said the woman broke her leg but was in good condition when paramedics took her to the hospital.
