Order matters

The project is reminiscent of a three-part Greek tragedy with 15 tracks intended to be listened to in order. Listening from 1 to 15 numerically will allow you to best understand the storyline.

Inspired by heartbreak

star-crossed was inspired by Musgraves’ raw emotions exposed by her divorce from Ruston Kelly in 2020.

As real as it gets

Musgraves committed to digging deep for the album as she participated in a guided, seven-hour mushroom trip to help her uncover the rawest of emotions to write songs around.

Accompanied by a film

The album release is accompanied by a 50-minute film of the same title, available via Paramount+. The film features Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, Simone, actress Victoria Pedretti, musician Princess Nokia, and comedian, Megan Stalter. The film is directed by Bardia Zeinali.

Written to heal

After winning a GRAMMY with her last album, Golden Hour, Kacey has no intentions on winning awards with star-crossed. The singer says she’s on the hunt for only one thing with this album, and that’s healing.

Star-Crossed Tour

Musgraves revealed she will embark on a limited 15-city tour, Star-Crossed: Unveiled, beginning January 2022. More information can be found at KaceyMusgraves.com.
