NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A Queens man was arrested after he punched another man in the face at an LA Fitness on Long Island and then fought off responding cops, Nassau County police said.
The cops responded around 4 p.m. Thursday to the LA Fitness on Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park, where they found the bleeding 37-year-old victim who'd been slugged in the face.
He was suffering from pain, swelling, bruising and lacerations, police said.
When the officers tried to arrest his alleged attacker, Bryan A. Daney, he “refused to comply,” according to police.
The 20-year-old became “violent and combative” as he resisted arrest, leading to two officers suffering injuries, police said.
Daney was ultimately taken into custody. He faces charges of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
The victim and the two officers were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Police didn’t say what may have caused the initial assault or if the two men were both gymgoers.
