NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man is facing five counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting at police officers, police said Saturday.
Anthony Gomez, 32, is also facing two counts of unlawful weapons possession after the Friday night ambush in Morrisania, which left no one harmed.
According to police, Gomez fired at police who chased him near Vyse Avenue and East 174th Street around 7:40 p.m.
As a police officer approached, he allegedly tried to hide his pistol in the wheel well of a white car, as video obtained by the Daily News shows. When a cop turned the corner, the suspect recovered the gun and fled.
Another video shows a family racing for cover into a brick apartment building as Gomez allegedly fired a round at the cops.
Four officers, with their weapons drawn, chased him, according to the report.
Officers held off on searching nearby buildings until backup arrived. The gunman reportedly ran to the roof of one building and jumped from roof to roof, making his way down the street.
Eventually, Gomez was found inside a building on Vyse Avenue near the shooting scene around 3:40 a.m.
