NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A woman was killed and three others seriously injured early Friday in a Brooklyn crash that was so violent it blew apart two cars and launched a stoplight "20 feet," police and witnesses said.
The chaos unfolded around 3:30 a.m. at Court Street and Atlantic Avenue on the border of Cobble Hill and Downtown Brooklyn.
The driver of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan ran a red light and crashed into a white Honda sedan, police said.
The force of the collision shattered the vehicles and sent them crashing onto opposite sides of the intersection, with one landing right outside Trader Joe's.

An 18-year-old woman who was in the Honda was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Three other people were taken to the hospital in serious condition. They include two occupants of the Honda and a passenger in the Mercedes.
The driver of the Mercedes fled from the crash scene on foot but was later captured by officers, police said.

People who live and work in the area were shocked to see the mangled vehicles and debris littering the roadway Friday morning.
"This looks absolutely brutal—like it looks brutal," Mary Bianca said. "The stoplight is all the way here, probably 20 feet from where it usually is on Atlantic."
One of the cars landed just feet from Sergio Huerta's coffee shop.
"Crazy—it's just like, what happened," he said.
The NYPD is investigating the crash and suspects speed may have been a factor.
