NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 28-year-old Brooklyn man faces hate crime charges in connection with three attacks on Asian people in the borough over the past month.
Joseph Russo was arrested Wednesday, police said. He faces multiple counts of assault and aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
The most recent attack was on Monday. A 77-year-old Asian man was pushed to the ground at random outside a supermarket on Avenue U in Sheepshead Bay, police said.
Police also believe Russo’s the man who grabbed a 32-year-old Asian woman and pulled her hair on Kings Highway in Homecrest on March 22.
In the third incident, a 64-year-old Asian woman was shoved to the ground on Kings Highway in Gravesend on March 5, police said.
Russo was expected in court later Thursday.
