NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man died after he fell from off a New York Harbor barge on Thursday morning, authorities said.
According to officials, a call was received at about 6:10 a.m. requesting EMS to meet at NYPD's harbor unit off Staten Island in the Kill Van Kull Strait over a report that a person was in the water.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the man was in cardiac arrest, police said.
The person was pulled from the water and transported to Richmond University Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.
The reason why he fell off the barge remains unknown.
