NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was robbed by three thieves on a West Village street—and then robbed by a fourth person he had asked to call 911, police said Monday.
The NYPD released images of the four suspects, who are believed to have all been accomplices.
The 27-year-old victim was robbed by the trio at Horatio and Greenwich streets around 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6.
They stole his wallet and then pushed and punched him "numerous times" throughout his body, police said.
After the assault, the victim approached a fourth person who he mistakenly believed to be a bystander.

He asked that person to call 911 with his cellphone, but instead the stranger took the phone and fled with the other three suspects, according to cops.
All four of them then hopped in a sedan and fled eastbound on Horatio Street.
The victim wasn't seriously injured in the robbery and declined medical attention, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
