NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man stole an American Airlines bus from JFK Airport early Wednesday and went on a 15-mile joyride through Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn before he was caught, police said.

The empty bus was left running in Lot 12 at the airport, so the 36-year-old thief hopped in around 1:35 a.m., according to police.

His three-borough joyride took him onto the Van Wyck Expressway and the Grand Central Parkway in Queens. He then drove down the FDR Drive in Manhattan to the Brooklyn Bridge, where he crossed into Brooklyn.

The joyrider was arrested by police after they stopped the bus at Cadman Plaza West and Middaugh Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

He was alone on the bus, and no injuries were reported, police said.

Charges are pending against the unidentified suspect, who has nine prior arrests, including for robbery.
