NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police are searching for a U.S. Department of Homeland Security air sampling machine—and the thief who stole it from a Queens subway station over the weekend.

The NYPD released surveillance video Wednesday of the suspect wearing a camouflage jacket with a U.S. flag design on the front and back.

The machine was on a platform at the Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street station in Jackson Heights early Saturday when the man stole it around 4:20 a.m.

The man loaded the device onto a northbound F train and took off with it, according to police.

The devices are used to “collect samples of potential biological contaminants in ambient air,” according to the Homeland Security website.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
