'Mitzvah Tank' vandalized in 2nd NYC attack in months

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Jewish educational and outreach center on wheels was vandalized for the second time in a few months, police said Monday.

According to police, The "Mitzvah Tank" was targeted by the vandal as it was parked on Broadway near Prince Street in SoHo around 4:15 p.m. Feb. 2.

The word "Palestine" was scribbled on the side of the truck, according to police, in an attack similar to one last October.

Both incidents are being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force. It's unclear if either are connected.

The Mitzvah Tank is operated by Chabad Lubavitch and made its debut in New York City in 1974. It currently parks at 7 spots in lower and midtown Manhattan Monday through Thursday.

Last year, 261 antisemitic hate crimes were reported across the city. According to NYPD records, the complaints resulted in 69 arrests.
