NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A cabbie was robbed of his cellphone and wallet—and then his cab—in the Bronx over the weekend, police said Wednesday as they released photos of two suspects.
The 64-year-old driver picked the thieving pair up at W. 207th Street and 10th Avenue in Inwood around 6 a.m. Saturday.
He drove them to their requested destination 3130 Villa Ave. in Bedford Park, but instead of getting out, one of them simulated a firearm, police said.
The driver ran from the car for his safety, but the duo followed him and forcibly stole his cellphone and wallet.
They then got into his 2021 Toyota Camry and fled northbound in the vehicle on Villa Avenue, according to police.
The victim was not injured in the robbery.
His stolen car was later found, but the crooks were long gone, police said.
