NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A person was fatally struck by a subway train at Grand Central station on Monday, causing “severe” disruptions to service during the morning rush, officials said.

The person was struck around 8:40 a.m. on one of the 4/5/6 tracks at Grand Central–42nd Street station after jumping in front of a train, according to police.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, the FDNY said.

Three other people were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for unknown reasons.

The MTA said 4/5/6 trains were “severely disrupted” in both directions as emergency crews responded to the scene.
