The 82-year-old victim was assaulted at Whitehall and Stone streets, right outside MTA headquarters, shortly before 8:30 a.m. as commuters headed to work during the morning rush.

The 20-year-old woman, who was arrested at the scene, came up to the victim and slashed him over the head with a machete, police said.

She then discharged pepper spray at him, according to police.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition with lacerations to the back of his head.

Photos show the victim, dressed in a suit and covered in blood, near MTA headquarters.
