NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police launched an investigation after the decomposing body of a 68-year-old woman was found wrapped in garbage bags inside her Queens apartment, officials said Thursday.
The incident occurred at about 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday inside a building located at 102nd Street near 35th Avenue in the North Corona neighborhood when the landlord called 911 to report leaking water coming from the victim’s apartment.

Once inside the apartment, police found the 45-year-old daughter in the shower with her mother dead on the living room floor, authorities said.
According to the NYPD, the daughter was disoriented and her mother was severely decomposed and wrapped in several black garbage bags.
It is unclear if the mother was a victim of foul play or if the daughter failed to inform authorities about her mother's death.
