NY woman dead, 3 teens hurt in head-on crash in CT

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (1010 WINS) — A woman died and three teenagers were injured in a head-on crash in Connecticut on Monday night, authorities said.

According to state police, at about 9:30 p.m. a 17-year-old boy was driving a Hyundai Palisade northbound on Ball Pond Road near Harvest Road New Fairfield when a 62-year-old woman from New York was driving a Jeep Compass southbound on the same road.

Both vehicles collided head-on just north of the intersection of Ball Pond Road and Harvest Road.

Police identified the driver of the Jeep Compass as Diane Staab, of Mahopac She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai Palisade was transported to Danbury Hospital along with his two passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy. Their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

The accident remains under investigation.
