A suspect has been wounded after a standoff ended with an officer involved shooting. Spartanburg County Warrant Officers responded just after 3 PM Thursday to a home on South Carolina Avenue to apprehend a wanted suspect.
The Sheriff's Office says, the suspect threatened deputies with a knife and then barricaded himself in a bedroom. A standoff ensued, gas was then deployed. After that and negotiations failed, deputies then went through the door of the bedroom.
A K-9 Unit was sent in and the suspect reportedly began stabbing it. That's when at least one deputy fired and hit the suspect. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released and his condition is unknown.
SLED has been called into investigate, which standard protocol in officer involved shootings. No further information has been released by the sheriff's office, as of the time of this report.
