The Memphis Tigers secured their first Power Conference victory of the season Saturday, edging out Baylor 78–71 at FedExForum in front of an announced crowd of 11,392. Leading the way was senior forward Zach Davis, who posted a monster stat line with a career-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. He received strong support from Aaron Bradshaw, who added 17 points and seven boards.

Memphis shot a solid 41% from the field (28-of-68) and converted 19 of 25 free throws. They also protected the ball well, committing just nine turnovers all game.

Baylor got 22 points from freshman guard Tounde Yessoufou and 13 from Cameron Carr, but the team’s veteran contributors, including Michael Rataj, Dan Skillings Jr., and Obi Agbim, combined for only 21 points on 6-of-25 shooting.

Baylor briefly seized momentum in the second half, building a 53–45 lead with about 13 minutes to play. But Memphis regained control, and the Bears managed just two points over a critical four-minute stretch down the stretch all but sealing the game for the Tigers.

Memphis’ balanced scoring, strong free-throw shooting and low turnover rate, combined with Baylor’s late dry spell, proved decisive in a gritty home triumph.

Next up: Memphis (4-4) takes on #6 Louisville (8-1) on Saturday (12/13) at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN
