PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Notes and some of the best quotes from the Steelers 37-15 win over the Jets on Sunday. From Najee Harris getting 100 again, another big special teams play, 50 years ago and in quotes like the one from Beanie Bishop and who he wants to autograph his two interception balls.

Najee century

For the first time since the last two games of last season Najee Harris has had consecutive 100-yard games, finishing with 102 yards. It also marks only the second time in his career he’s had back-to-back 100-yard efforts.

Block culture

The Steelers blocked a couple of kicks on Sunday, one was called back as the official said Minkah Fitzpatrick used a player as leverage to block an extra point. The one that did count was big, Steelers up a score late in the third quarter and Dean Lowry able to get his hand on a 35-yard field goal attempt by Greg Zuerlein.

“You know, we got a block culture here that we embrace, and we embrace it with our work during eh course of the week,” Tomlin said. “We got a lot of guys that put a lot of effort into the techniques that’s required to deliver and I’m just appreciated of that. It’s pretty awesome. It is significant and it has been.”

Cam & 4-time champ

Cam Heyward tied four-time Super Bowl Donnie Shell playing in his 201st career game with the Steelers on Sunday.

“Cam is a great, great guy,” Shell said. “Does a lot in the community and he’s an awesome player.”

50 years from 1st

Steelers honored their first Super Bowl championship during halftime. Among those in attendance-Joe Greene, John Stallworth, Lynn Swann, Shell, Rocky Bleier.

“To be able to go in that locker room when the game was over,” Swann said. “To see that Super Bowl trophy being hoisted by ‘The Chief’, Art Rooney, Sr., for all for the years that he’d owned the Pittsburgh Steelers to win his first Super Bowl trophy. You would have to know him to understand the sheer joy that showed on his face. He wasn’t one of those guys that was jumping up and down all the time. It was a great moment, he was taking it all in.”

Guest reporter

He was the only reporter in the post-game news conferences with a NFL touchdown, actually 83 of them. Brandon Marshall asked several good questions after the game including why Tomlin made the bold decision to change quarterbacks?

“What’s why I’m well-compensated,” Tomlin said while laughing and getting up from the podium.
