A board member of a local non-profit has been arrested on charges of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.
39-year-old Katherine Brooke Farmer of Anderson was a board member of Vets Helping Vets Anderson. She is accused of beginning to steal funds from the organization in April, which eventually added up to over $17,000 total.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office detectives uncovered Farmer’s usage of charity funds for retail, medical and other personal expenses. She has since been charged with Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent.
She is currently being held in the Anderson County Detention Center after detectives say she confessed to the monetary theft.
