According to Valley Central, the U.S. does not allow travelers to “bring back most cattle, swine, sheep or goat meat – or meat products – from countries affected with certain livestock diseases, such as swine vesicular disease, classic swine fever, or foot-and-mouth disease.”
Raw pork products, such as chorizo, are not admissible to the U.S.
The U.S. citizen caught trying to smuggle in the chorizo is known for frequent agricultural violations.
