How many of you have held onto your letterman jackets since the glory days of high school?  Some of you may have thrown them out years ago and have no idea where they ended up.

For one graduate of Rowlett High School, her old jacket ended up halfway across the globe.

A Rowlett High School graduate living in Japan noticed a familiar maroon letterman jacket with a large “R” for Rowlett in a local clothing store.  Sure enough, it was from their alma mater.

According to WFAA, it was selling for about $56 USD and listed as in “great condition.”

They posted about it on Facebook which caught the attention of former Rowlett High School teacher Christy Poe, who taught math at the school for 21 years.

Upon a suggestion of checking the pockets, they found an old school choir photo, which led to discovering the original owner’s identity: Jacqueline Joseph, a 2011 graduate of Rowlett High.

So how did Jacqueline’s jacket end up all the way in Japan?

Tracy Claybrook, who owns a vintage shop in Garland called The Frocksy, said that Asian wholesalers pop in from time to time and just “pull things off the rack. They know they can get it here because in Japan it’s really, really expensive.”

So maybe that’s how the jacket ended up over 6,000 miles away.

Despite its foray into the limelight, Jacqueline says she doesn’t want the jacket back and is excited that someone else will get some use out of it.

“When you donate things, you don’t get to see who gets them,” she said.
