Great. Just one more thing we know have to worry about.
For the first time ever, a western diamondback rattlesnake was found in the wild and documented in Denton County.
According to WFAA, the snake was found in a garage in Argyle and while experts say the species is not common, its “presence in that location” makes the discovery significant, and can lead to offering new insight into shifting wildlife patterns.
The snake was captured and taken to the University of Texas at Arlington, where it was euthanized and preserved which will allow researchers to study it as part of the university’s biological record of reptiles and amphibians.
Snake catcher Rob Boles advises that if you ever encounter a rattlesnake, the best thing to do is just back away.
“The best thing is, is three steps and you're out of a snake's way,” he says. “Just back up,” and to then call a professional.
