FULLERTON, Calif. (KNX) — Fullerton police arrested a man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run on Thursday that killed a 67-year-old man.

The incident occurred near Chapman Avenue and Ladera Vista Drive Thursday morning around 5 a.m. when police said the driver of a white Ford F-250 struck a bicyclist from behind, throwing him from his bike into a brick planter. The driver then fled the scene.

First responders rushed the bicyclist to a hospital, where he died.

According to police, a witness spotted the suspect running from his pickup truck after stopping the vehicle near Jacaranda Place and Delphine Place.

Investigators said they received a call from the driver, who turned himself in sometime later. Anaheim resident Jonathan Ocampo, 21, faces felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. He was held on $500,000 bail.

The Orange County Coroner will release the identity of the 67-year-old man "at a time they deem appropriate," police said.
