DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (KNX) — Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Diamond Bar Monday morning, burning dangerously close to homes and the 60 Freeway.
The flames were first spotted near Looking Glass Drive and Featherwood Drive around 11:34 a.m. Monday near the Philips Ranch Road exit.
Investigators believe a fire sparked by an 18-wheeler truck spread to brush nearby, igniting an estimated one-fourth acre of land as it crept uphill.
Fire crews deployed multiple resources to extinguish the flames, including dropping water from a helicopter. The L.A. County Fire Department reported it had contained the fire shortly before 1 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Only one lane was open on the westbound 60 Freeway as first responders battled the blaze. Eastbound traffic was also moving slowly through the area.
“Expect a huge delay from Central in Chino,” said KNX News Traffic Reporter Brian Douglas.
No evacuations were mandated, according to Diamond Bar city officials.
