Police investigating deadly shooting in Long Beach parking lot

LONG BEACH, Calif.(KNX) – Officers are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in a Long Beach parking lot Tuesday evening.

Long Beach Police responded to the 4300 block of East Ocean Boulevard around 10:30 p.m.

At the scene, a man in his 20s was found with a gunshot wound in his upper body. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the parking lot practicing a dance routine when he became involved in a verbal dispute with a group of unknown male suspects,” the department said.

“The dispute escalated into a physical altercation and, subsequently, the shooting, which resulted in the victim’s death.”

Details on the suspects were not made available.

The Department of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner is working to identify the victim.
