Texas Senator John Cornyn has said it's time for the U.S. to take a tougher stance against China.

Cornyn was recently part of a congressional delegation to the Philippines, India, and Taiwan recently. He says he notices they speak more plainly about the threat from China than American politicians do.

"One seemingly small step we must take is to describe China's actions with accurate terms," Cornyn said. "We can't do the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) any favor using watered-down euphemisms like 'human rights abuses' when what we're really talking about is genocide."

Cornyn says he's sponsoring the bi-partisan Taiwan partnership act, to improve Taiwan's ability to defend itself against China.
