Two North Texas women were arrested after authorities said they used a drone and plastic bird decoys to smuggle drugs and cellphones into a federal prison in central Louisiana.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said the delivery involved plastic crow decoys filled with contraband, which were dropped onto the prison grounds. Investigators said the women were paid $40,000 to carry out the scheme.

Officials identified the suspects as 38-year-old Melanie Jean Worthington of Joshua, Texas and 41-year-old Kassy Marie Cole of Hurst, Texas.

Officials say Worthington faces charges of taking contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with intent to distribute.

Cole was charged with taking contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute. Authorities said Cole also had an outstanding warrant at the time of her arrest.
