Will Kyle Tucker play for the Astros in 2025?

It appears the Astros are close to trading star right fielder Kyle Tucker.

With free agency looming next winter and the Astros unlikely to pay him, Tucker is one of the latest big name MLB trade candidates.

Multiple MLB insiders are reporting mutual interest in a deal between the Astros and the Chicago Cubs. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Chandler Rome reported Wednesday that Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki and corner infielder Isaac Paredes are two players the Astros are targeting in a potential trade for Tucker.

They described the talks as "fluid, and the teams have exchanged a variety of names," also noting that any package for Tucker would also include prospects.

The Astros are also likely to lose third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency this offseason. Trading Tucker would signal a clear change in the Astros' winning trajectory, especially following a season in which they were swept in the wild-card.
