Nothing in the NFL surprises Texans GM Nick Caserio

(SportsRadio 610) -- The Texans are adjusting to a new system, management and players at this year's training camp.

A lot of what's happening is normal. Two-hour practices splitting individual and team drills.

Coaches are taking advantage of the evaluation period to decide which of the nearly 90 players at camp should make the 53-man roster, though they won't wear pads until next Tuesday.

But the strangest element of camp has been the presence of Deshaun Watson, the franchise quarterback who is still on the team, but has demanded a trade and only appears to be present to avoid expensive fines.

Texans first-year general manager Nick Caserio has said the Watson situation is day-to-day, and the team is still processing information to decide how to move forward.

Caserio sat down with Payne and Pendergast on Thursday morning, when he was asked whether this is the strangest training camp in which he's been a part.

“If I’m being truthful, nothing really surprises me in the NFL," Caserio told Payne and Pendergast. "I think that the one thing I’ve learned, you kind of have to expect anything and just be prepared to act accordingly and respond accordingly. And ultimately, just try to make good decisions and do the right thing at the present time. I think that’s the most important thing for us to do.”

Keep in mind, Caserio's career with the New England Patriots dates back to 2000, which means he's seen every scandal there from Spygate, to Aaron Hernandez's murder cases and the Tom Brady deflated footballs saga.

Caserio's adjusting to the heat at NRG Stadium, but this is not his first rodeo.
