6 rings: Wednesday stat day: A look at the numbers from the Patriots’ 38-3 loss to Cowboys
The Patriots are banged up.
Two of their star defenders, Matthew Judon and Christian Gonzalez, will likely be out for a while. Judon is having surgery on his torn biceps tendon on Wednesday, and Gonzalez will have surgery "soon" on his torn shoulder labrum.
Somehow, some way, New England has to move forward after falling to 1-3. They hit the practice field on Wednesday to try and do so. Here's what stood out in their first session prior to Sunday's matchup vs. the Saints:
Attendance:
Absent: LB Matthew Judon, CB Christian Gonzalez
PUP: S Cody Davis, DE Trey Flowers
IR: WR Tyquan Thornton, OT Riley Reiff, CB Jack Jones, CB Marcus Jones, DL Daniel Ekuale
Other Notes:
- S Cody Davis and DE Trey Flowers were at Patriots practice on Wednesday, signaling that their 21-day window to be activated off of PUP has begun.
- Riley Reiff's 21-day window to come off of IR was officially opened as he practiced with the team on Wednesday.
- WR Tyquan Thornton and CB Jack Jones were not at practice. They were eligible to return on Wednesday.
- Following the loss of Christian Gonzalez, the Patriots traded for cornerback J.C. Jackson from the Chargers on Wednesday. They swapped sixth and seventh-round picks in 2025's NFL Draft with Los Angeles.
- Punter Corliss Waitman was released from the Patriots practice squad, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. This move comes after the reported signing of DT Trysten Hill to the practice squad.
