the rich keefe show: The Patriots need to find their stud wide receiver this offseason

Stop me if you've heard this before: The Patriots have a massive, franchise altering decision coming up at the end of April.

Holding the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 Draft, New England can begin the process of getting their football team back on the right track. According to MassLive.com, their plan is to sign a veteran quarterback in free agency and then draft a signal caller with their first-round pick.

According to NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry, however, one of the top QBs' camps may not want him to play for the Patriots.

"What I did hear about [Jayden] Daniels is that there are those in his camp who really would rather he not come to New England," said Perry on NBC Sports Boston on Monday night. "And that's probably climate-related, a guy who grew up in San Bernardino, California, played at Arizona State and LSU, and now all of a sudden is in Foxborough, Massachusetts and [is] trying to figure things out when it's snowing and below freezing? Again I don't think that would be a concern for the Patriots, but it would be interesting to see how he would embrace the area."

The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, Daniels shined at LSU last season, totaling 50 touchdowns (40 passing, 10 rushing) while throwing for 3,812 yards and rushing for 1,134 yards.

He didn't take part in measurements at the NFL Combine last week, opting to instead wait for his Pro Day. Daniels' lanky build has already been deemed a cause for concern, so all eyes will be on his weigh-in.

Oddly enough, his hand size, especially if he's set to play in a cold weather city, will be one to watch as well.

"It would be dope,” Daniels said last Friday at the Combine when asked about potentially playing for the Patriots. “Obviously, growing up and seeing what Tom Brady did, six Super Bowls, that's tough to live up to. But that'd be dope to come in there, [after] seeing the success they've had, and help them get back on track."
