Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have named linebackers coach Bobby Babich as the team's new defensive coordinator on Tuesday.

Babich has been with the Bills since 2017, first serving as the team’s assistant defensive backs coach before making the transition to safeties coach, a role he held from 2018-2021.

Following that, Babich made the switch to linebackers coach, which is the role he has been in since 2022.

Babich becomes the first defensive coordinator under head coach Sean McDermott since Leslie Frasier stepped away last offseason. Frazier was heading into the 2024 offseason without a contract with the Bills.

This past season saw McDermott call plays defensively with Frazier taking the 2023 season away from the team. It is currently unknown whether Babich or McDermott will call plays heading into next season.
