DETROIT (WWJ) -- "If this was your daughter, sister, niece... you would want somebody to speak up."

Those are the words of the mother of 19-year-old SaKendra Mitchell, who was murdered on Detroit's west side ten years ago today.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is renewing its call for tips in Michell's case, as her family pleads for help rom the public to find answers.

According to Crime Stoppers, Mitchell — who often went by the nickname Kendra — was with friends at a block party on the night of August 2, 2013, on LaSalle St. and Puritan, between Puritan Ave. and Pilgrim St.

Just about 20 minutes after Mitchell and her friends arrived at the party, an argument broke out between two unknown men. Shots were fired, and everyone scattered.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Mitchell was found lying in the middle of LaSalle St., dead. She had been shot in the head, according to authorities.

Since that time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named or described.

At a news conference two years after the deadly shooting, Mitchell's older sister, Tanisha Mosley, cried as she said they need someone in the community to step up with information that will help police find the person who did this.

"Our family has been heartbroken, torn apart and everything else because of this," Mosley said.

"Whoever did this, just turn yourself in, do the right thing. It's not fair," added the victim's aunt, Bianca. "You get to see your family, but she doesn't. It's not fair. Just please help."

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of $2,500 for the person whose tip leads to an arrest in this cold case.

Anyone with any information about Mitchell's murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587), or submit a tip online at this link.

As always, all those who contact the Crime Stoppers tip line will stay 100% anonymous. They are not asked to provide their names, and are not required to speak to police or to testify in court.

All rewards are also paid anonymously.
