WESTLAND (WWJ) -- The family of a Westland couple whose home was completely destroyed in a fire this week is seeking donations to help them "restart their lives."

The family says the engaged couple also lost their beloved pet in the devastating blaze on Tuesday, on August Ave., near Joy Rd. and Middlebelt, near the Livonia border.

Ashley Radke wrote on a Gofundme page posted late Tuesday:

"Today, April 11th 2023, my mom Kris and her fiancé, Monte sadly lost their house and all belongings due to a house fire. Sadly, their dog Cupcake, was unable to make it out. The house is a complete loss. They have nothing, all they have is the clothes on their backs. Anything will help them, please keep our family in your prayers."

Responding to questions and well-wishes on social media, Ashley Radke said her mother and her fiancé are staying with family and are safe.

Crowds of people gathered near the scene of the fire, as smoke poured into the neighborhood and crews from multiple fire department responded, late Tuesday afternoon.

There is no information from authorities at this time about what might have caused the fire.

The goal for the online fundraiser was set at $8,000. Those who wish to help can make a donation at this link.
