Even with an offensive explosion in a win over Central Michigan, the LSU offensive line still looms as a potential trouble point heading into the start of Southeastern Conference play this week.

The most troubling position remains left tackle, Ed Orgeron said on SportsTalk with Bobby Hebert, Kristian Garic and Mike Detillier this week. The team still hasn't found its starter after departures and injuries early in the season.

With Cam Wire missing another game due to injury, young players filled in that role and had predictable struggles.

“They weren’t ready to play. They’re young guys. They’re going to be good players but down the road," Orgeron said. "Those guys are not ready to play and they showed it, and they knew it. They did some good things, but they’re not ready to play.”

One bit of good news in that regard, Max Johnson is a left-handed quarterback. That means his blind side will be protected by the right tackle and Austin Deculus, who will have the most starts of any LSU player ever when he calls it a career.

But as LSU kicks things up a notch with the start of SEC play and Mississippi State this week, the left side of the line remains a point of concern.

"We’re still looking for our left tackle. Is it Anthony Bradford? Is it Garrett Dellinger? Is it Cam Wire coming back? We don’t know yet," Orgeron said.
