The moment Drew Brees officially decided to retire after the 2020 season, it was only a matter of time before the ageless Tom Brady took down one of his most hallowed NFL records.
As fate would have it, that moment came in Week 4 on Sunday Night Football, which meant Brees would be there looking on while serving in his new role as an SNF studio analyst.

Brady officially broke the mark on a long drive in the first quarter, with Brees looking on from the sidelines.
Check out the Saints legend’s reaction in the video below.
Brees also took to Instagram from that spot on the sidelines as his former rival took down his mark.
It wasn’t quite as built up as when Brees broke the mark on a long touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith in the 2018 season, which was followed by a long break on field and a pre-recorded congratulations message from NFL legend Peyton Manning, the previous record-holder.
But Brady’s moment had its own wrinkle, coming in a matchup with the New England Patriots team he led to Super Bowl titles before joining the Bucs a season ago.
