The offense bounced back at Friday's Saints training camp practice, a day after the defense stood out in shutting down the pass game.
Jameis Winston hit big gainers to Marquez Callaway and Lil'Jordan Humphrey, while Taysom Hill hit big plays twice to Chris Hogan, one with a defender falling down and another against a blown coverage in the secondary.
"I want to see more shot plays down the field," Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert said after practice. But I'd say ... the D-line has really shown up and they're explosive. They're disruptive with the quarterback, so that has to continue. It's what we say, the best pass coverage is a pass rush."
The defense did log two interceptions on the day. The first came by Adonis Alexander defending Kawaan Baker in team drills. Alexander's performance showed a solid recovery from a difficult showing in his first practice after signing with the team. Zack Baun was the recipient of a tipped interception as he broke up a pass to Juwan Johnson. As the newly converted tight end went to corral the ball, he tipped it into the waiting arms of Baun. The linebacker had a near-interception on a late delivery across the middle by Jameis Winston a day earlier.
