The mother of a New Orleans Criminal District Court judge is critically injured in a shooting and now police are searching for the suspects responsible.
As Nola.com reports, on Thursday, Judge Robin Pittman’s mother was struck by stray gunfire from a group of suspected car burglars.
Pittman’s mother was wounded in the shooting while driving through a New Orleans East neighborhood.
According to WWLTV, witnesses say the gunfire came from a group of suspects, who were spotted pulling on car door handles in the 5900 block of Babylon Street in the Pines Village neighborhood.
Video obtained by the news outlet shows the shooting, which happened shortly after neighbors confronted the burglars. Gunfire broke out, bullets struck Pittman’s 73-year-old mother and caused her car to slam through a chain-link fence at the corner of Babylon, and Dorian Street then came to a stop at a nearby driveway.
Paramedics took the victim to University Medical Center in critical condition.
