New Orleans Police investigate French Quarter shooting

The New Orleans police Department is investigating an overnight shooting in the heart of the French Quarter.

According to NOPD, a man was shot around 4:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of St. Louis and Royal streets.

Police say the victim and a woman were arguing, when the suspect walked by, shot the man in the stomach, and then fled.

Downtown New Orleans has been packed with visitors this weekend for the busy 4th of July and Essence Festival weekend.

Police say anyone who has information should call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
