The exit from I-10 West to Airline Hwy. at the Carrollton interchange, as well as the I-10 on-ramp from lake-bound S. Carrollton Ave., has finally reopened.
Both closed in May when a garbage truck smashed into a support structure on the ramp, denting the steel beams.
The garbage truck could not be removed until the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development could shore up the structure, then once the truck was out of the way, they had to close the ramp to complete the repairs.
Repairs were expected to last through the end of August, but a stretch of good weather, combined with a seven-day-a-week work schedule, allowed contractors to finish ahead of schedule.
