The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the weekend death of a seven-year-old boy from the Slidell area.
The coroner over the weekend said the child drowned, after having been left temporarily unattended. The incident occurred Saturday morning in the 40000-block of Ranch Road.
"An unexpected death is always a tragedy, but even more so when it is a young child," said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. "My thoughts and prayers go out to this family."
According to the sheriff's office, the incident remains under investigation, and it would provide no further information at this time.
