Heavy rains and storms are pushing into the New Orleans area Sunday morning and are expected to linger through the late afternoon.
According to WWL-TV meteorologist Alexa Trischler, the rain will enter the New Orleans Metro between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The strongest storms and heaviest rains will hit the area between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Those storms could bring high wind gusts and two or more inches of rain. That could cause localized street flooding in and around the city of New Orleans.
A cold front will follow the storm, brining temperatures in the 60s over the next few days. That cooler conditions will also come with lots of sunshine and a breeze. However, that front will bring frosty conditions Monday night, with the Northshore experiencing a possible light freeze.
