NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A two-alarm fire erupted in a Newark home Wednesday morning, killing one and injuring four others, according to authorities.
The deceased man was found on the first floor.
One person jumped from a second floor window to escape the flames and is seriously injured.
Three others suffered minor injuries.
Sixty-five firefighters responded to the fire at a 2.5 story residential building at 388 Summer Avenue just before 6 a.m.
The fire was under control by 6:40 a.m. and four families have been evacuated and relocated.
Two animals were reported dead at the scene.
The fire's cause is under investigation.
The injured are being treated at a hospital.
