NEWARK (1010 WINS) -- A crash in Newark claimed two lives on Friday morning.
It happened at around 5:30 at the intersection of Bergen Street and Madison Avenue.
Authorities say the two vehicles involved hit a parked car and two light poles before crashing into a house.
One of the cars overturned, and the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. No one inside the home was hurt.
The mayor of Newark says the two people killed were teenagers driving a stolen vehicle.
"It's unfortunately, it's a tragic situation. Despite whatever was going on, the car being stolen or not, these people have parents," Mayor Ras Baracka said. "We feel sorry for their parents and the tragedy of them losing their children this morning."
Mayor Baraka added that a gun was found in the car.
