JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Three Jersey City police were hospitalized Thursday after shots were fired during an investigation.
Officials say the officers were taken to Jersey City Medical Center following the incident that took place on Rutgers Avenue.
They suffered minor injuries but were taken to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.The officers were responding to a report of possible drug activity in the area.Authorities say there were three police officers responded near the corner of Rutgers and McAdoo Avenues, including two officers who were on a nearby anti-violence walking post, when a man at the scene brandished a weapon and began to fire it.The three officers suffered minor injuries caused by a brief struggle with the suspect, according to officials.Authorities said no one was shot.Police later identified the suspect as 28-year-old Jamel Bolden.
He is expected to face several charged including resisting arrest.
