NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man's body was discovered in the water near Brooklyn Bridge Park on Friday morning, and police are investigating.
Police received a 911 call reporting the body visible in the East River off Pier 5 just before 8:30 a.m., officials said.
Responding officers reached the body about 30 feet from the shore and found the man unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear if there is any criminality involved. The man's identity has not yet been released.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death.
