'Air bridge' could allow quarantine-free travel from NYC to London: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Some travelers may soon be able to fly between London and New York without having to quarantine, according to a report.

Transportation officials are considering setting up “regional travel corridors,” also known as “air bridges,” that will allow travelers from currently-low-risk areas like New York City to bypass COVID-19 quarantine orders when they fly to places like London, the New York Post reported, citing a report in The Telegraph.

“There are discussions going on at a very senior level around opening up London and New York,” a source told The Telegraph. “They are at a very early stage, but it is vital to get business going with a major trading partner especially as we near Brexit.”

A transportation official, meanwhile, told the outlet the United Kingdom is “committed to tackling this virus while enabling a sustainable and responsible return to international travel.”

“We keep the data for all countries and territories under constant review and will not add a country to our travel corridor list unless safe to do so,” the official said.
