NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The mother and grandmother of a developmentally disabled 16-year-old Bronx boy were arrested and charged on Thursday for allegedly starving him to death, according to police and sources.
Geneva Jarvis, 36, and Denise Jarvis, 62, were each charged with murder in connection to the death of Adonis Jarvis, authorities said. Police listed both women and the victim as sharing the same address on East 147th Street in the South Bronx, and sources confirmed their relationship as grandmother, mother and son.
The teen was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln on March 16 and died while apparently malnourished, leading the hospital's pediatrics department to alert police of the suspicious death.
Sources said that the medical examiner deemed the death a homicide due to chronic neglect, including starvation and dehydration.
