NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Joe Biden met George Floyd's family in Houston Monday, a lawyer for the Floyd family confirmed.
"Listening to one another is what will begin to heal America. That's just what VP @JoeBiden did with the family of #GeorgeFloyd – for more than an hour," attorney Benjamin Crump tweeted. "He listened, heard their pain, and shared in their woe. That compassion meant the world to this grieving family."
Crump also tweeted a photo from after the meeting, of himself, Biden, Al Sharpton, Rep. Cedric Richmond and George Floyd's uncle, Roger Floyd.
A public viewing is taking place on Monday, and a private funeral service will take place Tuesday.
Biden will also record a video message for Floyd's Tuesday funeral service, CNN reported. Biden will not attend the service because he didn't want his presence, which includes Secret Service officers, to be a distraction, according to the report. He did, though, want to pay his respects in person.
Biden last week said he spoke with the family of Floyd -- who died in Minneapolis police custody almost two weeks ago -- shortly after his death.
"I tried to give them some solace in terms of how the memory, the memory and meaning of George's life, would live with them," Biden told CNN.
